Coastal & Spiritual Way from Porto
20 days / 19 nights – Avg. walking 17 km (11 miles) per day. Our journey begins in Porto, where we set off along the Camino Portugués, walking beside the Atlantic through charming seaside towns and forest paths. From Baiona, we follow the peaceful and scenic Spiritual Variant, passing through sacred sites and serene countryside before arriving in Santiago de Compostela. This extended route offers a beautiful mix of coastline, culture, and quiet reflection.
Lodging is upgraded accommodation at well chosen, hotels (including Parador's), casa rurales (country cottages) and/or bed and breakfasts. All rooms are private double rooms (2 beds) with a private bathroom.
Retreat prices listed are per person, in double occupancy accommodations. If you are traveling alone we will pair you with a roommate.

October 7, 2026 – Arrival in Porto, Portugal
Fly into Porto and settle into this vibrant city known for its riverside charm, port wine, and stunning tile-covered buildings. Enjoy time to explore before our journey begins. We’ll gather for a welcome dinner and orientation.
October 8, 2026 – Porto to Labruge – 25 km
Follow scenic coastal trails past fishing villages and sandy beaches. Notable stops include the beachside Chapel of Senhor da Pedra.
October 9, 2026 – Labruge to Póvoa de Varzim – 14 km
Walk along wooden boardwalks through charming seaside towns, arriving at the coastal town of Póvoa de Varzim.
October 10, 2026 – Póvoa de Varzim to Esposende – 22 km
Pass through the Northern Littoral Natural Park, with its dunes and sweeping ocean views.
October 11, 2026 – Esposende to Viana do Castelo – 24 km
Cross historic bridges and arrive at Viana do Castelo, home to the Sanctuary of Santa Luzia and a charming historic center.
October 12, 2026 – Viana do Castelo to Vila Praia de Âncora – 19 km
Traverse forest trails and quiet coastal paths through peaceful fishing villages.
October 13, 2026 – Vila Praia de Âncora to A Guarda (Spain) – 13 km
Cross into Spain via ferry across the River Minho. Visit the ancient Celtic hilltop site of Castro de Santa Trega.

Enjoy serene coastal views on the way to the historic seaside Monastery of Santa María de Oia.
October 15, 2026 – Oia to Baiona – 20 km
Walk alongside the ocean to Baiona, where Columbus’ ship La Pinta first returned to Europe with news of the New World.
October 16, 2026 – Rest Day in Baiona
Relax and explore Baiona’s medieval old town, fortress, and beautiful bay. Optional yoga, journaling, and coastal walks.
October 17, 2026 – Baiona to Nigrán – 9 km
A gentle day through coastal paths and forest trails to the lovely beach town of Playa América.
October 18, 2026 – Nigrán to Vigo – 16 km
Enjoy sweeping views of the Ría de Vigo and arrive in the bustling seaside city of Vigo.
October 19, 2026 – Vigo to Redondela – 18 km
Walk through peaceful eucalyptus forests to Redondela, where the Coastal Route joins the Central Camino.
October 20, 2026 – Redondela to Pontevedra – 18 km
A forested and scenic day ending in Pontevedra, known for its well-preserved old town and the Church of La Peregrina.
October 21, 2026 – Pontevedra to Armenteira – 23 km
Begin the Spiritual Variant, with a peaceful forest walk to the serene Monastery of Armenteira.
October 22, 2026 – Armenteira to Vilanova de Arousa – 23 km
Descend along the tranquil Ruta da Pedra e da Auga (“Path of Stone and Water”), past ancient mills and streams.
October 23, 2026 – Vilanova de Arousa to Pontecesures (via boat)
Take the traditional Traslatio boat journey through the Ría de Arousa, tracing the legendary route of Saint James. Land near Pontecesures and continue on foot.
October 24, 2026 – Pontecesures to Rúa de Francos/Faramello – 15 km
A scenic walk through countryside dotted with chapels and tiny hamlets.
October 25, 2026 – Rúa de Francos/Faramello to Santiago de Compostela – 13 km
Arrive in Santiago de Compostela and celebrate your pilgrimage with a visit to the magnificent cathedral and Pilgrim’s Mass. Group closing dinner and final night in Santiago.
October 26, 2026 – Group Transfer to Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ)
