Camino Portugués: Spiritual Variant from Baiona to Santiago, Northwest Spain – 10 days/9 nights – Avg. 17 km (10.5 mi) per day.
Walk a spiritually rich section of the Camino Portugués, starting in coastal Baiona and ending in Santiago de Compostela. This route blends seaside trails, forest paths, and sacred sites—including the peaceful Monastery of Armenteira and the traditional Traslatio boat journey—highlighting the natural beauty and historical depth of the Camino.
Lodging is upgraded accommodation at well chosen, hotels (including Parador's), casa rurales (country cottages) and/or bed and breakfasts. All rooms are private double rooms (2 beds) with a private bathroom.
Retreat prices listed are per person, in double occupancy accommodations. If you are traveling alone we will pair you with a roommate.

Camino Portugués: Spiritual Variant from Baiona

Day 1: October 16, 2026 – Baiona
We will pick you up at the Vigo, Spain (VGO) airport. You’ll have some time to explore Baiona, a beautiful fishing village known as the first port in Europe to receive news of the discovery of America. You can visit the Monument to the Encounter between Two Worlds or the Pinta Caravel Museum. In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner and prepare for our walk to begin the next day.
October 17–18, 2026 – Baiona to Nigrán – 9 km
A gentle walk along coastal paths and forest trails to Playa América, with time to enjoy the beach and nearby cafés.
October 18–19, 2026 – Nigrán to Vigo – 16 km
Enjoy sweeping views of the Ría de Vigo as we head into the lively city of Vigo, passing the popular Samil Beach.
October 19–20, 2026 – Vigo to Redondela – 18 km
Walk through tranquil eucalyptus forests and arrive in Redondela, home to the Romanesque Church of Santiago.
October 20–21, 2026 – Redondela to Pontevedra – 18 km
Peaceful forested trails lead us to Pontevedra, a city known for its charming old town and the Church of La Peregrina.
October 21–22, 2026 – Pontevedra to Armenteira – 23 km
Begin the Spiritual Variant with a scenic forest walk to the quiet Monastery of Armenteira, nestled in the hills.
October 22–23, 2026 – Armenteira to Vilanova de Arousa – 23 km
Descend along the Ruta da Pedra e da Auga (“Path of Stone and Water”), following streams and old mills to the coastal town of Vilanova de Arousa.
October 23, 2026 – Vilanova de Arousa to Pontecesures (via Traslatio boat route)
Experience the traditional Traslatio boat journey through the Ría de Arousa, retracing the route of Saint James’ remains. Land near Pontecesures and walk a short distance to our lodging.
October 23–24, 2026 – Pontecesures to Rúa de Francos/Faramello – 15 km
Walk through peaceful countryside dotted with chapels and hamlets, soaking in the stillness of rural Galicia.
October 24–25, 2026 – Rúa de Francos/Faramello to Santiago de Compostela – 13 km
Complete your pilgrimage at the majestic Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, where we’ll gather for a special closing ceremony and optional Pilgrim’s Mass.
October 26, 2026 – Group Departure
Group transfer to Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ) for your journey home.
