Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

These are Camino walking journeys rooted in mindful movement, with yoga serving as a supportive part of the experience rather than the primary focus. The Camino itself is at the heart of what we do.

Yoga is typically gentle, accessible, and intentionally woven into the journey to support the walking experience rather than define it. Participation is always optional.

Our Tanzania journey is different in nature and includes a blend of cultural experiences, safari, time in nature, and a few optional hikes, with mindfulness and optional yoga woven throughout the experience.

Please see the itinerary for each specific retreat for additional details.

Flights, lunches (unless specified on itinerary), snacks, additional alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks that are not included with meals, souvenirs.

No, yoga is optional. The yoga offered on our retreats is Yin or restorative—gentle, slow, and accessible for everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level. Whether you want to join the sessions or simply focus on the Camino walk and community, the choice is yours.

It’s a completely personal choice. Whether or not you need hiking poles will depend on your walking experience and your body. For some people, hiking poles will provide huge benefit. For others, they are not necessary and will just feel like extra weight on your back or something else to carry. We both use hiking poles. Some of the benefits we find are: balance, reduce hand swelling, less joint stress.

For our Camino retreats:
Our Camino retreats require the ability to walk an average of approximately 10–14 miles (16–22 km) per day over varied terrain, often for multiple consecutive days. Some routes include hills, uneven paths, mud, rain, or long descents depending on conditions and the specific Camino route.

Luggage transfer is included on most retreats, so participants carry only a daypack while walking.

While our journeys are supportive, mindful, and non-competitive, the Camino is still a physical walking pilgrimage. We encourage all participants to prepare in advance in whatever way feels appropriate for their body and experience level.

For our Tanzania journey:
The Tanzania experience is different from our Camino retreats and does not involve consecutive long-distance walking days. While there are a few optional hikes and active cultural experiences, much of the journey involves safari drives, cultural immersion, and time spent in nature. A general level of mobility and comfort with travel is recommended.

We are always happy to speak with you before booking to help determine whether a particular journey may be a good fit for you.

Nope! It just usually works out that way.

That said, if you're after a women-only retreat, let us know—we can sometimes make that happen.

Yoga and Hiking- two worlds entwined. The yin and yang. The importance of maintaining a strong and flexible body for improved physical fitness while hiking goes without saying. Why yoga when hiking? Improve your balance, strengthen your core, promotes strength and mobility, reduces tightness, maintain loose muscles, and feel more balanced.

This retreat might not be the right fit if:
– You’re really not into walking, nature, or spending time outdoors.
– You prefer a highly structured schedule over a bit of flexibility and flow.
– You’re looking for a traditional sightseeing vacation rather than a more immersive experience.
– You tend to focus more on what goes wrong than what’s possible along the way.

But it may be a beautiful fit for you if:
– You’re ready to challenge yourself—even if it feels a little uncomfortable at first.
– You want to bring more mindfulness into your daily life in a grounded, practical way.
– You’re curious about other cultures and believe a little adventure is one of the best ways to connect.
– You’re more of a glass-half-full kind of person and open to the unexpected moments that travel can bring.
– You’ve dreamed of doing something like this but would rather not go it alone.
– You’re up for fresh air, movement, laughter, meaningful connection, and experiences that stay with you long after the journey ends.

Our Camino retreats are centered around walking pilgrimages through Spain and Portugal, while our Tanzania journey offers a different rhythm rooted in cultural immersion, safari, nature, and mindful travel. Each experience is unique, but all are designed with intention, connection, and curiosity at the heart of the journey.
